?A dish that does good! Minestra de dumèga is a typical dish from the peasant tradition, poor but rich in nutritional properties to the extent that it is a “complete meal”. For more than twenty years, during the Lenten period, a group of women and men skilled in the kitchen have been making themselves available to prepare barley soup that locals and non-residents, by reservation, take home or consume directly in the oratory. The initiative stems from the idea of sharing a poor dinner during the 3 Fridays before Easter and raising funds for the parish and missions with the active involvement of the population.

?Friday 6, 13 and 20 March 2026

Soup will be distributed starting at 6 p.m., but there is also the possibility of staying for dinner at the Bianzone oratory starting at 7 p.m.

?The cost of the take-away portion is 5 euro, and for dinner in the oratory 13 euro.

?For those unable to collect directly, home delivery will be made.

?For bookings, please contact:

Holding it in your hand, it feels as though you’re looking at one of those old Year 5 exercise books from days gone by – the ones with the black cover and the pale label edged in amaranth red. Even the name has a nostalgic ring to it, “La Cusinascia” – though it’s not meant to be derogatory; it refers to the setting where people lived and carried out many of their daily tasks. A blast from the past […]

Holding it in my hand, I seem to see one of the fifth-grade exercise books of yesteryear, the ones with the black cover and the light-coloured label outlined in amaranth red. The name also smacks of the past, “La Cusinascia”, which, however, is not derogatory, it indicates the environment where people lived and performed many tasks.

A plunge into the past with this recipe book that is the result of the “Mapping Bianzone” project, proposed by the Ecomuseo of the Rhaetian terraces to the Region, which recognised it from a cultural point of view and financed it together with other initiatives in the area, such as the book on trades produced by the school and the search for place names. is a return to the 1950s and what people ate back then. The recipes come from some of the village elders who shared their secrets in the kitchen.

The book is divided into 14 parts, each section referring to a specific foodstuff, the cultivation and use of which is explained: buckwheat, maize, rye, wheat, barley, garden produce, potatoes, vines, pork, eggs, fruit. And then the recipes such as fuiadi, fritulini, pulenta al furan, cui patati, cui tartifuli, pancot, pan dei munt, minestra de ors, taroz, vin coc, ris e lac’, tripa, marsala all'uovo, farudi. Pleasant pages, reading them one understands how people lived, what they ate, simple but genuine food.

L'articolo La Cusinascia proviene da Ecomuseo Bianzone.
